Improvement project to begin for US 25 in

Madison County

Between the US 421 Intersection and Pumpkin Run Road

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 18, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an improvement project scheduled to begin in Madison County. The Grade and Drain work will be located between the US 421 Intersection and Pumpkin Run Road (a total of 2.57 miles).

Grading and Drainage is the reshaping of the land surface between points in the landscape. The main purpose of grading is to properly drain the site, to steer water away from structures, and to prevent flooding.

The project was awarded to the Allen Company in the amount of $15,181,738.88. Operations will begin on Monday, Nov. 21, with an anticipated completion date of Friday, Nov. 1, 2024. The traveling public will be informed of significant changes to traffic patterns through advisories furnished to media outlets.

Schedule of work:

  • the majority of operations will be weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • there could be instances when work is performed during the weekends between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, through Friday, Nov. 1, 2024

US 25

  • work will be between the US 421 Intersection (South of Duncannon Lane) and Pumpkin Run Road
  • the project will be located alongside the existing US 25 beside the Army Depot
  • there will be the possibility of temporary lane closures and traffic diversions
  • at this time there are not plans to close the road at any point

All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes:  Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
