New Interchange Coming to I-71 in Oldham County

Work to begin this fall

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) today announces the awarding of a contract for constructing a new interchange in Oldham County. The new interchange will be located on Interstate 71 at KY 2857 (LaGrange Parkway). That’s at mile point 20.6 between KY 393 and KY 53.

“Interstate 71 and other Oldham County routes experience frequent traffic congestion during peak commute hours,” said Matt Bullock, the chief district engineer for the Department of Highways District 5. “This new interchange will divert traffic from existing ramps, reducing congestion on those routes and improve safety on all roadways.”

Work is scheduled to begin this fall. Signs in the area will notify drivers of the work, but they should heed any restrictions, proceed through the work zone with caution or seek an alternate route. Motorists should expect lane shifts and lane closures on I-71 within the project limits.

Louisville Paving & Construction was awarded this contract in the amount of $15,925,000. The expected completion date for the project will be fall 2024.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
