New Blacktop Coming to KY 36 from Olympia Springs to Owingsville in Bath County
One-lane, flagged traffic, no street parking for the next week
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Sept. 27, 2022) – Work’s under way on a $672,000 Kentucky Transportation Cabinet improvement project to resurface nearly nine miles of KY 36 in Bath County.
A new, thin layer of blacktop will be applied to KY 36 between the KY 3290-Mudlick Road intersection (milepoint 20.5) at Olympia Springs and the US 60 intersection (milepoint 11.9) in downtown Owingsville.
Contractors began milling, or removing old blacktop, today, Tuesday, Sept. 27, with crews working from Olympia Springs toward Owingsville. Paving work starts Wednesday. Milling and paving will take several days to complete.
During construction, motorists should expect one-lane, flagged traffic and delays on the highway. In addition, there will be no street parking on KY 36 in downtown Owingsville (Slate Avenue) between the courthouse and Kendall Springs.
Work should be complete, and all traffic returned to normal, by the middle of next week if weather permits. Until then, motorists should heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones, and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
The project is being done by Walker Construction and Materials LLC under a $672,532 low-bid Transportation Cabinet contract.
