Traffic Shift Planned for U.S. 62/Blandville Rd Work Zone in McCracken County on Monday, Sept. 12
Two-way traffic to move from westbound lanes to eastbound lanes
PADUCAH, Ky. (September 11, 2022) – A work zone traffic shift is planned along U.S. 62/Blandville Road in Western McCracken County for Monday, September 12, 2022.
This work zone to extend the existing 4-lane westward along U.S. 62/Blandville Road runs from the KY 998/Olivet Church Road intersection to the McCracken Boulevard traffic signal at the Commerce Park entrance. This is along U.S. 62 between mile point 7.851 and 8.8 west of Paducah.
This work zone currently has two-way traffic running on the westbound lanes. On Monday, traffic will be shifted to the eastbound lanes to facilitate ongoing construction.
The traffic shift is expected sometime during the mid-morning hours on Monday. Extra caution is required while construction personnel adjust traffic control signage and barricades to facilitate the traffic shift. Some delays are possible between about 9 a.m., and noon.
Once the shift is completed, motorists should be alert for changes in traffic configuration and flow the shift will create in the work zone - particularly at the work zone entry points.
This work zone has a strict 35 mph work zone speed limit with an enhanced police presence.
Jim Smith Contracting is the prime contractor on this $7.7 million project, which includes the construction of new bridges across Massac Creek. This project is about 90 percent complete. The target completion date is December 1, 2022.
