Bridge Replacement Accelerated Due to Flood Damage

KNOTT COUNTY (August 30, 2022) The Frankie Jane bridge located at mile point 6.6 (1.4 miles northeast of KY 1697) over Caney Creek in Knott County is being replaced by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky program, starting this week.
Construction is scheduled to begin Wednesday, August 31, and continue through October 2022. Crews will work from 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday however, weekend work is possible due to the accelerated time frame. The existing bridge will be closed, and traffic will be maintained on a temporary, single-lane diversion throughout construction.
Motorists should watch for signage and equipment parked near the work zone during both daytime and nighttime hours. Schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
Central Bridge Co., Bizzack Construction, and HDR Engineering, Inc. have been contracted to perform the work.
