Additional Superloads to Move along I-24 Eastbound in Lyon, Caldwell, and Trigg Counties
Caravan to leave Eddyville Riverport about every other day
PADUCAH, Ky. (August 24, 2022) – A specialized hauler plans to move additional superloads along Interstate 24 through parts of Lyon, Caldwell, and Trigg Counties about every other day over the next two weeks.
The first superload left the Eddyville Riverport around 9 a.m., today, and traveled KY 93 southbound to the KY 293 Princeton-Eddyville Exit 45 Interchange, then headed east on I-24.
The specialized hauler has five more loads for delivery in the Hopkinsville area.
Once the superloads enter I-24, the caravan will move at about 35 miles per hour with a police escort and support vehicles. When the slow-moving caravan reaches the U.S. 68 Cadiz Exit 65 Interchange, the 960,000 pound superloads will head east on U.S. 68 into Christian County to their final destination at Hopkinsville.
Motorists should be alert for these slow-moving loads and use appropriate caution. Patience is required, particularly where the overweight/over-dimensional hauler is making turns. Motorists who encounter these superloads should pay close attention to directions from police escorting the caravan.
KYTC District 1 and the Lyon County Sheriff's Office will attempt to provide more specific information about when the remaining loads will move as the schedule firms up.
