Extended Closure of KY 95/Main Street in Calvert City starts Monday, Aug. 29
Roadway to remain closed to Saturday morning, September 3
PADUCAH, Ky. (August 26, 2022) – A contractor for the Paducah and Louisville Railroad plans to close a section of KY 95/Main Street in downtown Calvert City starting Monday, August 29, 2022.
This extended closure of KY 95/Main Street is to allow reconstruction of a rail crossing at the 6 mile marker in Calvert City. This extended closure of KY 95/Main Street is at the P&L Railroad main line crossing between Railroad Avenue and Gilbertsville Highway.
The roadway at this site is expected to close promptly at 8:30 a.m., CDT, on Monday. KY 95 is expected to remain closed at this site until sometime Saturday morning, September 3.
There will be a marked detour.
This work is funded with Kentucky Rail Crossing Improvement (KRCI) Funds. P&L Railroad was awarded $1,436,725 to assist with work at eight crossings this year. Four of those crossings are in Western Kentucky - two in Marshall County and two in McCracken County. P&L is matching grant funds with at least 20% of the total cost of the crossing upgrades.
P&L Railroad and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will attempt to provide timely updates should weather or other conditions change the planned work schedule at the KY 95/Main Street crossing in Calvert City.
