Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Expressway Interchanges Set for Temporary Nightly Closures

Closures are to interchanges in Barren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Aug. 13, 2022)   A project to rehabilitate and resurface a section of the Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Expressway in Barren and Metcalfe Counties will create ramp closures beginning Sunday, Aug. 14. The ramps will close between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. and motorists will be detoured to the next interchange. 

The ramps included will be Exit 11 and Exit 14 in Barren County next week and the ramps will change every night as progress is made. Motorists should plan for extra travel time for the detour to the next interchange.

The full schedule is listed below, but work is weather dependent and subject to change. 

Sunday 8/14
Exit 11 eastbound to U.S. 31-E closed.
Exit 11 westbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.

Monday 8/15
Exit 14 eastbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.          
Exit 14 westbound off-ramp to KY 90 closed.                        
Exit 11 eastbound off-ramp to U.S. 31-E closed.
Exit 11 westbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.

Tuesday 8/16
Exit 11 westbound off-ramp to U.S. 31-E closed.                   
Exit 11 eastbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.
Exit 14 eastbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.           
Exit 14 westbound off-ramp to KY 90 closed.

Wednesday 8/17
Exit 14 westbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.          
Exit 14 eastbound off-ramp to KY 90 closed.                       
Exit 11 westbound off-ramp to U.S. 31-E  closed.                    
Exit 11 eastbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.

Thursday 8/18
Exit 14 westbound to the Nunn Expressway closed.        
Exit 14 eastbound off-ramp to KY 90 closed. 

Motorists can expect work going on from the 20-mile marker to the 36-mile marker and the speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph. Lane closures will be in place from the 28-mile marker to the 36 mile marker. Motorists can also expect lane closures from the 9 mile marker to the 16 mile marker. The speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph.
