I-264 Ramp Closure Set for This Weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 11, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the closure of an on-ramp to Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) scheduled for this weekend in Shively.
The on-ramp from northbound Dixie Highway (U.S. 31W) to I-264 West will be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, to 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15. A contractor will be installing a high-friction surface treatment on the ramp. This involves the application of a high-quality aggregate to the pavement using a polymer binder to increase pavement friction. The higher pavement friction helps motorists maintain better control during dry and wet driving conditions.
Message boards have been placed on northbound Dixie Highway, alerting motorists of the upcoming closure. Motorists should follow this posted detour: From northbound Dixie Highway, take I-264 East to Exit 9 for Taylor Boulevard (KY 1865), then go north on Taylor Boulevard to the ramp for I-264 West.
Motorists should heed signage, use caution and expect delays while traveling through the work zone.
