UPDATE: Reported Road Impacts in Highway District 12 Due to Flooding

Conditions as of 5:00 p.m.  Friday, July 29

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – (July 29, 2022) Efforts continue throughout the district.  Kentucky Department of Highways District 12 crews are working to clear roads and remove debris on roadways where possible.

Below is a list of portions of roadways that are closed due to high water (unless otherwise noted) as of 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 29. Each closure point is listed by milepoint (MP) where possible. Routes that have opened may also be listed.

Floyd County (Minnie Garage)
KY 979 MP 2, closed due to slide
KY 1428 MP 0-1
KY 466 MP 0-1 (Weeksbury), one lane open

Pike County (Canada)
KY 1056 one lane open

Pike County (Shelby)

Martin County

Lawrence County

Knott County
Water has receded. Cleanup under way, with debris on all routes.

High water signs have been placed

Crews are focusing on emergency clearance of roads so debris could remain on roadway shoulders or roads could be one-lane in spots. Residents are advised to avoid travel, obey posted road closure signs and barriers, and to never drive through flooded roadways.
