Rolling Roadblock Set for Today

on I-64 West in Franklin County

The roadblocks are part of an ongoing bridge replacement project

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 20, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a series of rolling roadblocks scheduled on Interstate 64 West in Franklin County.

There will be eight to 10 rolling roadblocks from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, July 20, on I-64 West starting at Exit 53 for U.S. 127 and continuing to mile marker 49 at the bridge over South Benson Creek.

A rolling roadblock is a common highway traffic control technique used to temporarily slow or stop traffic upstream of construction. These rolling roadblocks are for contractors to move a series of prefabricated concrete beams to be used for an ongoing bridge replacement project. The I-64 West bridge over South Benson Creek is one of four sets of bridges being replaced on the interstate in Franklin County.

Message boards will be placed approximately eight miles ahead of the rolling roadblocks advising motorists of current conditions, and law enforcement officials will be maintaining the rolling roadblocks. Drivers should heed signage and use caution while traveling through the work zones.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
