Microsurface Paving Starts July 12 on KY 17 (Madison Pike) in Fort Wright
Work will take place during nighttime hours
COVINGTON, Ky. (July 12, 2022) – A microsurface paving begins tonight, July 12, on a section of KY 17 (Madison Pike), from I-275 north to Latonia Ave. for a distance of 1.75 miles.
Microsurfacing is a protective seal coat which extends the life of pavement. It is a thin, tough layer of asphalt emulsion blended with finely crushed stone for traction. This is a cost-effective method to renew the road surface and seal minor cracks and other irregularities.
The nighttime work will begin with thermo marking removal. The microsurface operation will begin Wednesday night, July 13 and is expected to last three nights. The work will require a single lane closure between 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning.
In addition to the microsurface, the project includes new striping and pavement markings. The project cost is $376,000.
