Daytime Closure of KY 58/Mayfield Hwy West of Benton in Marshall County on Monday, July 11
Closure for culvert replacement runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
PADUCAH, Ky. (July 10, 2022) – /As a reminder, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close a section of KY 58/Mayfield Highway west of Benton in Marshall County on Monday, July 11, 2022.
KY 58/Mayfield Highway will be closed at mile point 7.1 to allow a culvert to be replaced. This closure of KY 58 is immediately east of the KY 2606/Jackson School Road intersection and about 1-mile west of the U.S. 641-Spur.
To improve drainage at the site, the Marshall County Highway Maintenance Crew will excavate to place a new culvert under the roadway, then fill the old culvert nearby with concrete.
Motorists and truckers should be alert for message boards providing detour information.
Passenger vehicles will detour via KY 2606/Jackson School Road to KY 408/Oak Level Road.
Trucks traveling between Benton and Mayfield should consider taking Interstate 69 to avoid the extended detour. Trucks that choose not to self-detour via I-69 will have an extended detour via KY 402/Brewers Highway, U.S. 641, and the U.S. 641-Spur.
KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely notice should the work be completed earlier than expected.
In case of rain, this project will automatically move to the next available working day.
Motorists should be prepared to encounter one-lane traffic at this location on Tuesday, July 12, for placement of riprap and some other finish work.
Motorists should be prepared to encounter rough road at the excavation site for an extended period. The area will be allowed to settle before a paving crew places a permanent cap on the excavation.
