Chip seal treatment extends the life of roadways
LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 10, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a project scheduled for Tates Creek Road/KY 1974 in Lexington.
Chip Seal operations will be applied as preventative maintenance. The Chip Seal treatment slows the deterioration of pavement, reduces upkeep and the costs of construction. In addition, it provides motorists with increased safety.
Monday, July 11 – 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. – Chip Seal application
Tuesday, July 12 – 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. – Chip Seal application
Monday, July 18 – 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. – resurfacing operations
Tuesday, July 19 – 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. – resurfacing operations
Tates Creek Road/KY 1974
- work will be in effect between Delong Road (milepoint 4.228) and Bridlewood Lane/Crestfield Lane
- alternating lane closures will be in place --- motorists will be able to pass through the work zone
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
