KY 53 Closure Set for Tuesday in Shelby County

Crew will be replacing a cross drain

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 20, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of the closure of a section of KY 53 (Mt. Eden Road) this week in Shelby County.

KY 53 will be closed from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, to 12 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, between KY 714 (Southville Pike/Hempridge Road) and Indian Springs Trace. No thru traffic; local traffic only. Motorists can detour via Indian Springs Trace and KY 714.

Crews will be replacing the first of several cross drains in preparation for the resurfacing of KY 53 at a future date. Motorists should use caution when crossing the newly replaced cross drains. Crews will place a layer of dense grade rock on the drains until asphalt can be poured.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
