Improvements scheduled for the Richmond Bypass/US 25 in Madison County
Project limits are between milepoints 18.7 and 19.2
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 19, 2022) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of improvements scheduled for the Richmond Bypass/US 25. The work will include the adjustment/construction of offset left turn lanes. This grade and drain safety project will provide better visibility for the traveling public.
The location is; with the intersection of the Richmond Bypass/US 25 and Old Wilderness Trail and the Richmond Bypass/US 25 with the intersection of Union City Road/KY 1986. The project was awarded to The Allen Company Inc. in the amount of $670,383.82. The anticipated completion date is Friday, July 29. Work will be completed prior to the opening of the school session.
Note: lane closures will be in effect through the evenings and weekends/crews will primarily work onsite Mondays through Fridays
Monday, June 20 through Friday, July 29 – hours of onsite work will be 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. primarily Mondays through Fridays
The project limits are between milepoints 18.7 and 19.2:
- left turn lanes will be closed for work on the median and turn lanes
- the left/fast lane of the bypass will serve as the left turn lane for motorists during the project
- thru traffic will be limited to the right/slow lane on this section of the bypass
- the left turn lanes will be permanently closed and not reopened until completion of the work
Motorists should expect and plan for delays --- especially during peak hours of commuting times.
All work, and closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
