Daytime Closure for KY 1056 near Buskirk
Beginning June 20, 2022

PIKE COUNTY (June 16, 2022) – Work starts Monday, June 20, to repair an embankment failure on KY 1056 (Buskirk) at mile point 11.1(.67 miles south of W.V. Route 49 and 3.5 miles north of KY 319) in Pike County. The road has been down to one lane since January, when heavy rains caused a slip along the roadway shoulder. The repairs will allow District 12 to officially re-open this section of KY 1056.

For the next two to three weeks, GeoStabilization International (GSI), the state’s contractor, will close the road at the work site from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for soil nail repairs. The road will be open for traffic in the evenings and on weekends. KYTC urges Motorists to use caution when traveling this area and to pay attention to signage.  Emergency Vehicles will be accommodated; however, all other vehicles are encouraged to use an alternate route during daytime hours.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Contractors understands the inconvenience to the public these repairs may cause, and we will do our best to limit delays. As always, slow down and use extra precaution when traveling in a work zone.
