Resurfacing project begins May 20 at US 23/US 119 intersection in Letcher County
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (May 19, 2022) – An asphalt resurfacing and milling project will begin on Friday, May 20, at the US 119 ramps at the US 23 intersection in Letcher County. This work zone will be at mile point 26.117 (Manning Drive) along US 119 and extends to US 23. This work will include all the ramps onto US 23 to and from Virginia and Kentucky. The milling operation will begin Friday morning; the ramps are one lane so expect long delays during this work. The contractor will be working between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. The project will take approximately two weeks, weather dependent.
Motorists should pay attention to equipment being parked in the work zone during daytime and overnight hours. There will be continuous traffic flow throughout the entirety of the project. District 12 asks that drivers use caution and obey speed limits to prevent any accidents within the work zone.
