Panther Creek Bridge on KY 819 in Lyon County Restricted to 9-Ton Load Limit

Bridge on KY 819 at 2.4mm

PADUCAH, Ky. (May 2, 2022)  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has lowered the weight limit on a section of KY 819 in northwestern Lyon County due to a structural issue with the Panther Creek Bridge

During a recent detailed inspection of the Panther Creek Bridge at KY 819 mile point 2.466, inspectors found deterioration of the substructure.  After a load rating analysis, engineers reduced the bridge to a maximum 9-ton load limit.

The Panther Creek Bridge is along KY 819 between Peek Cemetery Road and Guess Road.

Truckers and farmers should be aware of load limits and avoid crossing bridges with loads that exceed the posted weight limit.

All Kentucky bridges get a detailed inspection every two years, with long-span lake and river bridges getting a walk-through safety inspection annually.
