Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 Traffic Impact Report for April 2 through April 8

The District 3 area serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Warren Counties

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (April 1, 2022) – The expected traffic impacts in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 area for April 2 through April 8 are listed below. All work is subject to change.

Interstate 65

  • A project to rehabilitate and resurface Interstate 65 in Simpson County is entering its beginning stages. The project will rehabilitate and resurface both directions of I-65 from the Kentucky-Tennessee line (mile point 0.00) to the Warren County line (mile point 13.7). Motorists should expect lane closures. During some overnight hours I-65 could be down to one lane. Motorists should use caution and expect delays.

Interstate I-165

  • Motorists should expect lane closures in both directions from the Warren County/Butler County line (mile marker 18) to mile marker 21. Crews are working on a resurfacing project in that area. The speed limit has been lowered to 55 mph.

Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Expressway

  • A project to rehabilitate and resurface a section of the Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Express in Barren and Metcalfe Counties is expected to begin next week. Motorists can expect work going on from the 20 mile marker to the 36 mile marker. Lane closures will be in place and the speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph.

Allen County

  • KY 100 West (mile point 0.0 – 8.8, Simpson county line to just before Trammel Creek bridge) – A Highway Safety Improvement Project along KY 100 that includes, resurfacing, improvements to drainage structures, roadside slopes, shoulders, and ditches. The contractor will continue work on the project building out slopes and preparations for curve improvements starting Monday. The contractor will have multiple flagging operations along the route. The project completion date is expected in May.

  • KY 100 East Main St/Holland Rd (mile point 14.8 – 17.2, from KY 101 at the square to the KY 1421 intersection) –An asphalt milling and resurfacing project and sidewalk ramp replacements.  The contractor is expected to start sidewalk ramp replacements next week. Crews will be working on side of the road with possible shoulder closures at times. The expected completion of the entire project is the end of June.

  • KY 101 Smiths Grove Road (mile point 1.20 – 15.861, From US 31E to KY 234 intersection) – An asphalt milling and resurfacing project with failure repairs and milling. Crews will be working on asphalt failure repairs soon. Flaggers and stopped traffic should be expected. Completion of the entire project is at the end of June.

  • KY 101 Smiths Grove Road (mile point 15.861 – 13.347, KY 234 intersection to Warren county line) – An asphalt milling and resurfacing project with failure repairs and milling. Crews will be working on asphalt failure repairs soon. Flaggers and stopped traffic should be expected. Completion of the entire project is at the end of June.

Barren County

  • KY 90 Burkesville Road (mile point 17.7 – 22.0) – Construction of the next phase of KY 90 Glasgow-Burkesville Road has begun. Folks in the community will notice increased construction activity along the right of way. At this time, most of the construction will take place away from traffic; however, as construction progresses, traffic impacts will occur with increasing frequency.

    Notice will be given as these impacts happen throughout the course of the project. The project encompasses a section of roadway approximately four miles long between Fallen Timber Creek Bridge, near KY 839 and the Barren/Metcalfe County line. The project will widen the existing roadway template and features a bypass around the Eighty-Eight community

Monroe County

  • KY 214 (mile point 1.7 – 6.5) – A resurfacing project on KY 214 Turkey Neck Bend Road in Monroe County is expected to start next week. The project will impact traffic from near the ferry location to KY 953. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time while the project is underway. Access to the ferry will remain open at all times, but delays getting to the ferry are expected. The project includes base failure repairs and work on culverts. The project is expected to be finished in late June. 

Simpson County

  • KY 662 (mile point 3.2 – 5.0) – Asphalt resurfacing project will have failure and pipe repairs as well. The contractor expects to start repairs this coming week with asphalt resurfacing later in April. Expected completion is June.

  • 664 (mile point 2.0 – 4.4) - Asphalt resurfacing project will have failure and pipe repairs as well. The contractor expects to start repairs this coming week with asphalt resurfacing later in April. Expected completion June.

Warren County

  • U.S. 231 Scottsville Road (mile point 3 – 6 Alvaton community to Dye Ford road) – A Highway Safety Improvement Project to address multiple intersections on U.S. 231 Scottsville Road in the Alvaton corridor continues. Lane closures have been taken down, but some work is still going on.

  • KY 242 (Between U.S. 31-W and KY 884) – A paving project in this area is expected to start next week. Crews will start with base failure repairs. Lane closures should be expected beginning next week.

  • U.S. 31-W – A project to widen U.S. 31-W from Dillard Road to just near Buchanon Park is underway. Most of the work is being done off the roadway. The speed limit in the area has been lowered to 45 mph.
