County libraries hosting Popup events to date include: Carter, Cumberland, Fleming, Garrard, Hancock, Lyon, Livingston, Marshall, Monroe, Spencer and Woodford.
Ahead of the Cumberland County Popup event (pictured), Library Director Ashley Norris helped numerous patrons with online and mail-in renewals, saving them a trip to her March 17 Popup or the Columbia Driver Licensing Regional Office.
Libraries in Casey, Graves, Greenup, Harrison, Johnson, Lincoln, Owen, and Owsley counties are among the growing number of libraries also offering access to KYTC's remote licensing services.
Some Circuit Court Clerks are also partnering to offer their residents access to KYTC's remote licensing services.
Calloway Circuit Court Clerk Linda Avery, whose office transitioned at the end of March, said, "Response has been positive to online renewal. Our plan is to assist citizens with making appointments at regional offices, online renewal, and renewal by mail."
Ohio Circuit Court Clerk and Popup Partner Shannon Kirtley said she continues to help people who may have issues or questions regarding their licenses.
"I have even gone as far as to allow people to use our reader computer to apply for their license online," Kirtley said. "To my surprise, I have not heard as much negative comments about this change as I thought I would. It is my belief that the multiple options that are available really help ease people's minds about having to travel to regional offices."
Department of Vehicle Regulation Commissioner Matt Cole said KYTC is thrilled to have all current and any future partners helping promote remote licensing services. Many county senior centers are coming on board to offer remote and transportation services, he said.
