Mobile Pothole Patching along Interstate 24 in McCracken County Today

Crew to be on the road from 8 a.m., to about 3 p.m.

PADUCAH, Ky. (Feb. 18, 2022)   The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a mobile pothole patching operation along Interstate 24 in McCracken County today.

A mobile caravan will be working along I-24 from the McCracken-Marshall County Line at the 17 mile marker and mile point 0.0 at the I-24 Ohio River Bridge.

The KYTC McCracken County Highway Maintenance Crew made a pothole patching run along I-24 at Paducah on Monday.  However, the wet weather this week combined with freezing and thawing to pop patching material out of many of the potholes.  That prompted another patching effort today.

This pothole patching crew will start on the westbound lanes at the 17 mile marker near the U.S. 68 Reidland Exit 16 Interchange at about 8 a.m., CST, and work westward to the I-24 Ohio River Bridge.   The work caravan will then turn and work along the eastbound lanes back to the McCracken-Marshall County Line.

This work caravan will generally move traffic to the left-hand or passing lane to allow work mainly along the driving lane.  There are some potholes that may require the crew to work in the same spot for an extended period.

Motorists should be alert for trucks with arrow boards directing traffic to shift lanes to facilitate the work. Motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach this mobile work caravan between the 17 and 0.0 mile marker.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

This mobile crew will likely be working along i-24 in the Paducah area until about 3 pm., CST, today.  If they finish their work on the I-24 corridor the crew will move to other highways around McCracken County.

Please use appropriate caution anytime you encounter a work zone.
