Project to Widen KY 90 in Barren County has Started
Project limits are on KY 90 from KY 839 to the Metcalfe County line
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Feb. 11, 2022) – A project to upgrade KY 90 Burkesville Road in Barren County has started. The project will improve and widen KY 90 from near KY 839 (mile point 17.7) to the Metcalfe County line (mile point 22). The four-mile section of KY 90 will feature upgrades to the current road as well as a new alignment. The road will still feature two travels lanes, but will have a two foot paved shoulder in both directions. Sight distance, slopes, ditching, and drainage will also be improved along the route.
A new alignment around the Eighty-Eight community will also be constructed. Motorists can expect minimal traffic impacts during the winter months as most of the work is being done off the roadway. As construction progresses traffic impacts can be expected. Information about the impacts will be sent out as that information becomes available.
The construction project contract was awarded to Scotty’s Contracting & Stone, LLC, in August of 2021, in the amount of $14,067,824.65. The project is expected to be completed by summer of 2023.
