Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may occur, so the information below is strictly of an advisory nature and is subject to change with no notice.

Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, striping, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night. Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance on interstates and highways throughout the rest of the district daily.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

Sherman Minton Bridge (I-64 & US 150 over the Ohio River between Louisville, KY, and New Albany, IN): Find out the latest project updates here: https://shermanmintonrenewal.com/.

I-264 West (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures possible for partial depth patching from mile marker 13 (near Poplar Level) to mile marker 7 (west of Dixie Highway). Ramp closures are possible during this operation.

I-264 West (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures possible for installation of traffic counter stations from mile marker 8 (Dixie Highway) to mile marker 2 (Bank Street).

I-265 South (Gene Snyder Freeway): Left lane on the exit ramp to Westport Road and Chamberlain Lane (exit 32) was closed in January 2021 after a vehicle struck the overpass. The left lane will remain closed until a repair can be made. Funding for repair has been secured; the project has been awarded. Work will be completed in summer 2022.

U.S. 31E (Buechel Bypass):
Right lane closure over the Norfolk Southern Railroad (mile point 10.4) due to findings from a routine inspection last year. The affected area is not visible while driving over the bridge deck. KYTC has secured money for the repairs but the railroad must review and approve all plans. Motorists can use Bardstown Road as a detour. KY 146 (La Grange Road): 
Lane closures and delays are possible between Lilly Lane (mile point 6.3) and Stanley Gault Parkway (mile point 6.6) for utility work related to the upcoming installation of a left turn lane at English Station Road. The project’s estimated completion is winter 2021-’22.

KY 1450 (Blue Lick Road): 
Weekday lane closures possible between Gene Snyder and Preston Highway for road widening work. The project’s estimated completion is summer 2023.

 

BULLITT COUNTY

FRANKLIN COUNTY

I-64 East and West: Lane closures, traffic shifts and delays possible between mile markers 47 and 52 for a bridges replacement project. The project includes replacing four sets of overpass bridges located at:
• KY 151/Graefenburg Road (mile point 46.4)
• South Benson Creek (mile point 49.1)
• KY 1665/Evergreen Road (mile point 49.8)
• KY 2817/Cardwell Lane (mile point 51.5)
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained during daytime work (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.).

On I-64 West, a rolling roadblock will be conducted between exit 53 (U.S. 127/Lawrenceburg Road) and exit 48 (KY 151), both in Franklin County. On I-64 East, the rolling roadblock will be conducted between exit 43 (KY 395/Waddy Road) in Shelby County to exit 48 (KY 151) in Franklin County. The rolling roadblocks will occur during nearby blasting between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Exit 48 (KY 151) will also be temporarily closed during the actual blasting on those days. Message boards will be placed approximately eight miles ahead of the rolling roadblocks advising motorists of current conditions in each direction, and law enforcement will be maintaining rolling roadblock restrictions. The project's estimated completion date is late fall 2023.

U.S. 60 (Versailles Road): Weekday lane closures are possible from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Mondays through Fridays between Jett Boulevard/Chenault Road and KY 1681 (Duncan Road) at the I-64 interchange. Weekend lane closures are possible from 6 p.m. on Fridays through 6 a.m. on Mondays. All other times two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained on U.S. 60. The route is being widened for additional left-turn lanes to the Interstate 64 eastbound and westbound on-ramps. Another right-turn lane will also be constructed on the I-64 westbound off-ramp to U.S. 60. The project is scheduled to be completed by fall 2022.

KY 1659 (Glenns Creek Road/McCracken Pike): Full roadway closure due to 500-foot slide caused by heavy rain and flooding. Slide location is between Glenns Creek Road/McCracken Pike/KY 1659 (mile marker 1) and Harrod Carter Concrete (mile marker 2) in Franklin County. Engineering personnel are researching an appropriate repair option. Motorists should follow signed detour: Duncan Road/KY 1681 to Versailles Road/U.S. 60 (in Woodford County) to the East-West Connector/KY 676 (in Franklin County).

SHELBY COUNTY

I-64 East & West: Lane closures, traffic shifts and delays possible between mile marker 38 (KY 1790/Hooper Station Road overpass) and mile marker 44 (just east of exit 43 at KY 395/Waddy Road) for asphalt rehabilitation and shoulder repairs. The project is expected to be completed by early fall 2022.

KY 53 (Mt. Eden Road): Work to widen a portion of the roadway will take place from St. Regis Drive (mile point 6.4) to U.S. 60 (mile point 8). Two lanes of traffic will remain open to motorists throughout the project duration. The project’s estimated completion is late fall 2022.
