Daytime closures scheduled for KY 122 on Abner Mountain in Pike County
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 5, 2021) – Break repair work scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 8, at 8:30 a.m. on KY 122 near the top of Abner Mountain in Pike County, will result in some daytime closures. The work will take place at mile point 1.144, between the intersections with KY 466 in Floyd County and KY 610 in Pike County. King-Crete, the contractor for the state, will begin drilling the site on Monday morning. Because the break extends so far into driving lane, the road will be closed to traffic during work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Emergency vehicles and school bus traffic will be accommodated when necessary. Drivers should use alternate routes during this time. The lane closure will begin Monday morning and should be needed for a couple of days. Once the section of the break that is in the driving lane has been drilled; the road will be open and flaggers will direct traffic during working hours . This work will take about one week at this location, weather permitting. District 12 asks that drivers obey the flaggers and speed limits to prevent any accidents within the work zone.
