QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: "When will regional driver licensing offices begin to take cash?"
A: "All KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Offices are now taking cash, check and money orders.
It has been our goal to accept these forms of currency at our regional offices.
To ensure our success, we conducted a pilot project of cash, checks or money orders in our Frankfort and Lexington regional offices.
Since expanding this service to all 20 regional offices, the program has been very well received by the public."
4th Louisville Regional Office Opens to the Public
Residents and state and local officials gather for the opening of the Nia Center in Jefferson County.
Early October brought the opening of the fourth Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Driver Licensing Regional Office in Jefferson County.
The location will ensure that modern licensing and credentialing services are accessible to all residents of Kentucky’s largest metro area, as well as its surrounding counties.
The new office, at the Nia Center, 2900 W. Broadway, in Louisville, formerly was a branch location of the Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
The Transportation Cabinet is taking over the office as part of a phased transfer of all Kentucky driver licensing services.
The Nia Center location is the 20th KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Office, and more are planned to open in Kentucky.
The Nia Center is a designated stop for Transit Authority of River City (TARC) buses, enabling access for Kentuckians without personal transportation.
Like KYTC’s other regional offices, it will process applications for REAL ID and standard-issue driver licenses, commercial driver licenses, identification cards, permits and applications from non-U.S. citizens.
It also will process in-person renewals and requests for replacement credentials.
