Traffic Configuration Changes at U.S. 60/KY 53/KY 55X Intersection Implemented Tonight (Oct. 7, 2021) in Shelby County
Work continues for KY 53 widening project
LOUISVILLE, KY (Oct. 7, 2020) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of traffic configuration changes being implemented tonight as a part of the KY 53 (Mt. Eden Road) widening project in Shelby County. Work at the U.S. 60/KY 53/KY 55X intersection is scheduled to begin tonight at 7 p.m., with new traffic modifications completed by 6 a.m. Friday, October 8.
Crews will be removing striping, repositioning traffic control, and shifting all lanes to the west. Motorists should use caution while approaching the intersection as temporary lane closures and flagging operations will be in place while crews complete the lane configuration changes.
Work on the KY 53 project started in September 2020. As part of the project, the road will be widened from St. Regis Drive (mile marker 6.4) to U.S. 60 (mile marker 8). Louisville Paving & Construction was awarded the contract in August 2020 in the amount of $14,264,000. The project is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2022.
The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
