ROADSHOW for week of August 8, 2021

Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may occur, so the information below is strictly of an advisory nature and is subject to change with no notice.

Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, striping, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night. Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance on interstates and highways throughout the rest of the district daily.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

Sherman Minton Bridge: (I-64 & US 150 over the Ohio River between Louisville, KY and New Albany, IN) Find out the latest project updates here: https://shermanmintonrenewal.com/

I-65 South (John F. Kennedy Bridge): The three left lanes of the bridge closed for expansion joint repair. These lanes will remain closed until work is complete.

I-264 East (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures possible between mile marker 9 (near Taylor Boulevard) and mile marker 13 (I-65) for concrete repair. On weeknights (Monday through Thursday), lane closures are possible between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. On weekends, crews will be performing extensive concrete repair, lane closures are possible on Friday from 8 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.

I-264 West (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures possible between mile marker 13 (I-65) and mile marker 8 (Dixie Highway) for concrete repair. On weeknights (Monday through Thursday), lane closures are possible between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. On weekends, crews will be performing extensive concrete repair, lane closures are possible on Friday from 8 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.

I-265 East (Gene Snyder Freeway): Overnight and weekend lane closures possible from the Billtown Road interchange (mile marker 18.8) to the Taylorsville Road interchange (mile marker 23.3) for a concrete repair project. Nightly lane closures are possible from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

I-265 West (Gene Snyder Freeway): Overnight and weekend lane closures possible from the Taylorsville Road interchange (mile marker 23.3) to the Billtown Road interchange (mile marker 18.8) for a concrete repair project. Nightly lane closures are possible from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-265 South (Gene Snyder Freeway): Left lane on the exit ramp to Westport Road and Chamberlain Lane (Exit 32) was closed on Jan. 29 after the overpass was struck by a vehicle. It will remain closed until a repair can be made. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

US 31E (Bardstown Road): Nightly lane closures and delays possible on US 31E (Bardstown Road) from Storage Way (mile marker 5.8) to Hikes Lane / KY 2052 (mile marker 10.98) for traffic loop installation. Work will begin on Tuesday, August 10 and continue until loop installation is complete. Nightly lane closures are possible from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

US 31E (Buechel Bypass): Right lane closure over the Norfolk Southern Railroad (mile marker 10.4) due to findings from a routine inspection earlier this year. The affected area is not visible while driving over the bridge deck. The lane will remain closed until a repair can be coordinated with the railroad. Drivers can use Bardstown Road as a detour. KY 1450 (Blue Lick Road): Weekday lane closures possible between Gene Snyder and Preston Highway for road widening work.

Jefferson County (Various Locations):  Temporary shoulder closures possible at these locations for an ongoing LED lighting upgrade project:

  • I-264 at near Bank Street exit (38th Street)
  • I-64 at 22nd Street (Exit 3)
  • I-264 and I-65 interchange (including Crittenden Drive and KEC Gate 5)
  • I-64 and I-264 interchange
  • US 60 and I-264 interchange
  • KY 1447 (Westport Road) and I-264 interchange
  • I-71 at Zorn Avenue

Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

 

BULLITT COUNTY

All Bullitt County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

FRANKLIN COUNTY

US 60 East and West: Left lane closures at I-64 overpass (mile marker 13.3) on Monday, August 9 and Tuesday, August 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to overhead signing work (signs will be attached to the I-64 overpass). Drivers should use caution and heed signage while moving through the work zone.

KY 898 (Shadrick Ferry Road): Daily lane closures possible for asphalt resurfacing beginning at US 127 (mile marker 0.0) extending north to .77 miles south of Miller Lane (mile marker 3.0). Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

KY 1659 (McCracken Pike): Continued full roadway closure due to 500 foot slide (resulting from heavy rain and flooding). Slide location is between Glenns Creek Road/KY 1659 (mile marker 1.0) and near Harrod Carter Concrete (mile marker 2.0) in Franklin County. Engineering personnel are researching an appropriate repair option. Motorists should follow signed detour: Duncan Road/KY 1681 to Versailles Road/US 60 (in Woodford County) to the East-West Connector/KY 676 (in Franklin County).

All Franklin County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

HENRY COUNTY

All Henry County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

OLDHAM COUNTY

All Oldham County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

SHELBY COUNTY

KY 53 (Mt. Eden Road): Work to widen a portion of the roadway will take place from St. Regis Drive (mile marker 6.4) to U.S. 60 (mile marker 8). Two lanes of traffic will remain open to motorists throughout the duration of the project.

KY 636 (Back Creek Road): Full closure of the bridge over Little Beech Creek (mile marker 1.1) due to concrete deterioration. Motorists can take the following detour: KY 44 (Mt. Eden Road) to KY 714 (Hempridge Road) to U.S. 60 (Shelbyville Road) to KY 395 (Waddy Road). Estimated completion is late Fall 2021.

All Shelby County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

SPENCER COUNTY

KY 44 (Mt. Washington Road):  Daily lane closures possible for asphalt resurfacing beginning at the Bullitt/Spencer (mile marker 0.0) County line extending east to just west of River Heights (mile marker 7.04) Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

KY 1060 (Plum Creek Road): Temporary full closures of portions of the road possible for cross-drain replacement. Work will start near the intersection of KY 44 (Mt. Washington Road/mile marker 0) and continue north to the intersection of KY 1319 (Dale Lane/Kings Church Road/mile marker 5.1) starting on Monday, May 17. During weekdays, portions of the roadway will be closed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, nighttime closures between the hours of 5 p.m. and midnight are also possible.

All Spencer County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone

 

TRIMBLE COUNTY

All Trimble County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

5.    Pay attention to the signs.

6.    Obey road crew flaggers.

7.    Stay alert and minimize distractions.
