Update: Main Street/US 68X in Bourbon County

Main and High Streets between milepoints 0.00 - 1.789 in Paris

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 19, 2021) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that this news release serves as an update. The Main Street/US 68X project is progressing in downtown Paris.

Pavement conditions being addressed which include both Main and High Streets for North/South directions. In addition, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, entrances, and drainage will be improved. The anticipated completion date for the resurfacing and rehabilitation project is Oct. 31, 2021.

Monday, July 19 through Sunday, August 15 – 7 a.m. Monday until 7 a.m. Sunday

Note: this traffic pattern will continue through mid - August

Main Street/US 68X

• the street is one-way (Eastbound)
• vehicles are able to travel into town from the Clintonville Road/KY 1678 intersection to the High Street/US 68 intersection
• motorists traveling out of town (Westbound) are re-routed onto a detour that utilizes 8^th Street/US 460 and the Paris Bypass/US 27

Currently:

Main Street/US 68X

• two south lanes are being constructed with FOX enterprises working on entrances and sidewalks
• Walker Construction is developing the sub grade
• Hinkle Contracting is scheduled to begin paving on Monday, July 26^th at night
• the two south lanes will be completed and opened by Sunday, August 15^th  
• the remaining north side of the project will be torn out and rebuilt after the two south lanes have been completed

High Street

• Columbia Gas (by permit) continues to work toward relocating/replacing the gas lines --- this should be competed soon
• A Grade Contracting continues the relocation of water lines throughout High Street

All work/closures are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies, and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

District 7 includes:  Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott, and Woodford Counties
