UPDATE: KY 996/Metropolis Lake Rd Blocked by Gas Leak in Western McCracken County
Estimated duration is extended 7 hrs to 6 a.m., Friday
PADUCAH, Ky. (July 15, 2021) – McCracken County Disaster and Emergency Services reports KY 996/Metropolis Lake Road continues to be blocked in western McCracken County due to a natural gas leak.
KY 996/Metropolis Lake Road is blocked between Carneal Road and Palestine School Road. This is along KY 996/Metropolis Lake Road north of the Grahamville community near the 8 mile marker.
An ATMOS Energy crew is making progress in efforts to halt gas flow to allow the leaking line to be repaired. As a precaution, two families along this section of Metropolis Lake Road have been evacuated and moved to motels overnight.
The estimated duration of the blockage is extended 7 hours to approximately 6 a.m., CDT, Friday.
Motorists should continue to avoid the area.
