Work to take about a week to complete
PADUCAH, Ky. (July 15, 2021) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans milling and asphalt paving along a section of U.S. 62 in western Lyon County starting Friday, July 16, 2021.
This work zone along U.S. 62 runs from mile point 0.0 at the U.S. 62 Cumberland River "Eureka Highway" Bridge near Lake City extending eastward to mile point 3.73 near the KY 810 intersection at Sewanee, a distance of 3.73 miles.
The contractor plans milling operations on Friday and Saturday with paving to start on Monday, July 19. The work is expected to take about a week to complete, weather permitting.
Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $416,594 highway improvement project. The target completion date is July 31, 2021.
