ROADSHOW for week of July 11, 2021

Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may occur, so the information below is strictly of an advisory nature and is subject to change with no notice.

Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, striping, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night. Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance on interstates and highways throughout the rest of the district daily.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

I-64 East and West: Nightly lane closures possible in many locations between mile marker 22 to mile marker 24 (Jefferson County) and mile marker 24.1 to mile marker 28 (Shelby County) for in place patching operations.  Work will begin on Sunday, July 11 and continue through the morning of Wednesday, July 14 between the hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

I-65 North & South: Temporary lane closures possible near mile marker 126 (Outer Loop interchange) for an ongoing LED lighting upgrade project. Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

I-65 South (John F. Kennedy Bridge): The three left lanes of the bridge closed for expansion joint repair. These lanes will remain closed until work is complete.

I-264 East (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures possible between mile marker 6 (near Garrs Lane) and mile marker 13 (I-65) for concrete repair. On weeknights (Monday through Thursday), lane closures are possible between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. On weekends, crews will be performing extensive concrete repair, lane closures are possible on Friday from 8 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.

I-264 West (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures possible between mile marker 0 (I-64) and mile marker 13 (I-65) for concrete repair. On weeknights (Monday through Thursday), lane closures are possible between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. On weekends, crews will be performing extensive concrete repair, lane closures are possible on Friday from 8 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.

I-265 East & West (Gene Snyder Freeway): Full roadway closure between exit ramp 10A (East) to exit 8 (West) on Sunday, July 11 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for permitted overhead utility work by Louisville Gas and Electric Company. Please contact LG&E for questions or concerns. Signs in the area will notify motorists of the LG&E work and detour route.

  • Eastbound detour – Drivers traveling east on KY-841 will be detoured via exit ramp 8, guided onto KY-1020 north, to KY-1065 east, to the I-65 southbound on ramp, then to I-265 Gene Snyder via the westbound on ramp at exit 125.
  • Westbound detour –Motorists traveling west on KY-841 will be detoured via exit ramp 10A to 1-65 north exit ramp 127, to KY-1065 westbound, KY-1020 southbound, and then to the KY-841 west on ramp.

I-265 East (Gene Snyder Freeway): Overnight and weekend lane closures possible from the Billtown Road interchange (mile marker 18.8) to the Taylorsville Road interchange (mile marker 23.3) for a concrete repair project. Nightly lane closures are possible from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

I-265 East & West (Gene Snyder Freeway): Temporary lane closures possible near mile marker 5 (Bardstown Road interchange) for an ongoing LED lighting upgrade project. Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

I-265 West (Gene Snyder Freeway): Overnight and weekend lane closures possible from the Taylorsville Road interchange (mile marker 23.3) to the Billtown Road interchange (mile marker 18.8) for a concrete repair project. Nightly lane closures are possible from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-265 South (Gene Snyder Freeway): Left lane on the exit ramp to Westport Road and Chamberlain Lane (Exit 32) was closed on Jan. 29 after the overpass was struck by a vehicle. It will remain closed until a repair can be made. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

KY 841 East & West (Gene Snyder Freeway): Temporary lane closures possible near mile marker 3 (Stonestreet Road interchange) for an ongoing LED lighting upgrade project. Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

KY 1450 (Blue Lick Road): Weekday lane closures possible between Gene Snyder and Preston Highway for road widening work.

U.S. 31W (Market Street): Nightly lane closures possible between 2nd Street and 22nd Street for striping and intersection markings. Signs are posted warning motorists “No parking permitted between 6pm to 6am. Vehicles will be towed.”     

All Jefferson County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

BULLITT COUNTY

KY 1494 (Beech Grove Road): Full roadway closure between mile marker 5.623 and mile marker 5.671 (Long Lick Creek Bridge) beginning July 19 due to slide repair. Project duration is estimated at 90 days. Drivers should follow the signed detour.

All Bullitt County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

FRANKLIN COUNTY

HENRY COUNTY

KY 202 (Drennon Road): Lane closures possible between mile marker 1.0 (Flat Rock Road) extending north to mile marker 5.0 (New Cut Road) for asphalt resurfacing. Drivers should use caution and heed traffic control / flaggers while traveling through the work zone.

 

OLDHAM COUNTY

SHELBY COUNTY

I-64 East and West: Nightly lane closures possible in many locations between mile marker 22 to mile marker 24 (Jefferson County) and mile marker 24.1 to mile marker 28 (Shelby County) for in place patching operations.  Work will begin on Sunday, July 11 and continue through the morning of Wednesday, July 14 between the hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

KY 53 (Mt. Eden Road): Work to widen a portion of the roadway will take place from St. Regis Drive (mile marker 6.4) to U.S. 60 (mile marker 8). Two lanes of traffic will remain open to motorists throughout the duration of the project.

KY 636 (Back Creek Road): Full closure of the bridge over Little Beech Creek (mile marker 1.1) due to concrete deterioration. Motorists can take the following detour: KY 44 (Mt. Eden Road) to KY 714 (Hempridge Road) to U.S. 60 (Shelbyville Road) to KY 395 (Waddy Road).

KY 1005 (Vigo Road): Lane closures possible between mile marker 6.4 (KY 395) extending east to mile marker 11.2 (Franklin County line) for asphalt resurfacing. Drivers should use caution and heed traffic control / flaggers while traveling through the work zone. Please note:  Contractor will complete resurfacing on KY 1005 prior to moving to KY 2867 (below).

KY 2867 (Kings Highway): Lane closures possible between mile marker 0.0 (KY 395) extending east to mile marker 2.4 (KY 1472) for asphalt resurfacing. Drivers should use caution and heed traffic control / flaggers while traveling through the work zone. Please note:  Contractor will complete resurfacing on KY 1005 prior to moving to KY 2867.

All Shelby County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

SPENCER COUNTY

KY 1060 (Plum Creek Road): Temporary full closures of portions of the road possible for cross-drain replacement. Work will start near the intersection of KY 44 (Mt. Washington Road/mile marker 0) and continue north to the intersection of KY 1319 (Dale Lane/Kings Church Road/mile marker 5.1) starting on Monday, May 17. During weekdays, portions of the roadway will be closed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, nighttime closures between the hours of 5 p.m. and midnight are also possible.

KY 2885 (West River Road): Daily lane closures possible from mile marker 0 (intersection with Little Union Road) to mile marker 7 (intersection with KY 55) for rail mowing. Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

 

TRIMBLE COUNTY

US 421 North: Daily lane closures from mile marker 6.7 (US 42) to mile marker 18.7 (Milton-Madison bridge) for asphalt resurfacing. Drivers should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

KY 316: Daily lane closures possible for asphalt resurfacing. Work will take place from U.S. 421 (mile marker 0) to KY 1335 (mile marker 3).

1.    Expect the unexpected.

2.    Slow down.

3.    Don’t tailgate. Keep a safe distance between you and the car ahead of you.

4.    Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the construction workers and equipment.

5.    Pay attention to the signs.

6.    Obey road crew flaggers.

7.    Stay alert and minimize distractions.

8.    Keep up with the traffic flow.
