Closure continues for McCracken Pike/KY 1659 in Woodford County

Milepoint 0.8 at the Franklin-Woodford County line

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 23, 2021) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a continued closure for McCracken Pike/KY 1659. A portion of the route was closed Monday, March 1, due to a slide. The slide formed as a result of heavy rain and flooding.

Approximately 500 feet slid and contributed to a section of the road being lost. Engineering personnel are researching with regard to an appropriate repair option. The portion where the slide occurred has rock that is estimated at 50 feet deep.

McCracken Pike/KY 1659

  • a closure remains in effect at milepoint 0.8 at the Franklin-Woodford County line
  • the location is between Glenns Creek Road/KY 1659 (milepoint 1.0) and near Harrod Carter Concrete (milepoint 2.0) in Franklin County

Alternate Route/Detour

  • motorists will need to utilize Duncan Road/KY 1681 to Versailles Road/US 60 (in Woodford County) to the East-West Connector/KY 676 (in Franklin County)

All work, and closures are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies, and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
