Traffic Shifts to Occur Next Week on KY 461 in Pulaski County

Motorists advised to use caution through the work zone

SOMERSET, Ky. (April 13, 2021) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of traffic shifts expected to take place next week on the KY 461 widening project in Pulaski County.

Beginning Monday, April 19, crews will perform milling and paving along the northbound KY 461 shoulder, beginning at the intersection of KY 80 and extending north to Buck Creek.

Crews will turn the northbound shoulder into a traffic lane and put two-way traffic on the shoulder and northbound travel lane so they can work on the southbound half of the roadway.

The first of these traffic shifts will take place Monday between KY 80 and Valley Oak Drive/Coin Road. The remaining section will be shifted on Wednesday. The traffic shift will allow crews to begin widening along south KY 461. Motorists should exercise heightened caution. Slow down. Remove distractions. Watch for workers.

In addition to widening KY 461, the $49.4 million project involves replacing two intersections - KY 461 at KY 80 and KY 461 at Valley Oak Drive/Coin Road. Expected completion for the project is June 2023.

Dates and duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays.

Motorists can access travel and traffic conditions at http://goky.ky.gov or contribute their own reports at www.waze.com or via the Waze mobile application.
