Smoke Advisory for Land Between The Lakes Controlled Burn Today

Controlled burns in Lyon County across from Old Eddyville

PADUCAH, Ky. (March 29, 2021)  The Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area plans controlled burns near the Old Eddyville Ferry Landing and in the Crossroads area of Lyon County in the northern end of LBL.

The National Forest Service plans a controlled burn of about 20 acres near the Old Eddyville Ferry Landing starting around 1 p.m., CDT, and up to 190 acres in the Crossroads area starting around 3 p.m.

While the smoke from these controlled burns is not likely to create traffic issues, motorists traveling U.S. 62, and KY 93 between Lake City, Eddyville, and the Eddy Creek area of Lyon County should be aware that smoke could drift across Lake Barkley.  Appropriate caution is required.

These controlled burns are aimed at improving wildlife habitat and providing fire breaks to help control wildfires.
