Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may occur, so the information below is strictly of an advisory nature and is subject to change with no notice.

Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, striping, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night. Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance on interstates and highways throughout the rest of the district daily.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

I-64 East: Ramp to I-64 East from 9th Street and Market Street will be fully closed beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 29 for a ramp improvement project. Drivers can detour the area by taking 9th Street to the on-ramp at the intersection of 9th Street and Main Street. Signs in the area will notify drivers.

I-64 West: Lane closures on the off-ramp to KY 1747 (Hurstbourne Parkway/Exit 15) for signal work on Saturday, October 3. Work is scheduled to take place from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m.

I-71 South: Right lane closure from mile marker 0.5 to mile marker 0.9 on Thursday, October 8 for sign work. Work is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

I-264 (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures on the off-ramps from I-264 to U.S. 31 E (Bardstown Road/mile marker 15.6) on Tuesday, October 6 for a routine inspection. The inspection is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should use caution in the area.

I-264 East (Watterson Expressway): Lane closures possible for concrete slab replacement from mile marker 1 to mile marker 8 (between Virginia Avenue and Dixie Highway). Work will take place from 8 p.m. Friday, October 2 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 6.   

I-264 East (Watterson Expressway): Overnight lane closures at mile marker 16.7 (near ramp to Taylorsville Road/Exit 17A) for sign work on Sunday, October 4. Work is scheduled to take place in the right two lanes between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning. The ramp to Taylorsville Road will remain open.

I-264 East (Watterson Expressway): Overnight lane closures at mile marker 16.7 (near ramp to Taylorsville Road/Exit 17A) for sign work on Monday, October 5. Work is scheduled to take place in the four left lanes between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning.

I-264 East (Watterson Expressway): Alternating overnight lane closures at mile marker 18.7 (near ramp to I-64 W/Exit 19B) for sign work on Tuesday, October 6. Work is scheduled to take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning. The ramp to I-64 West will remain open.

I-264 East (Watterson Expressway): Overnight lane closure at mile marker 18.7 (near ramp to I-64 W/Exit 19B) for sign work on Wednesday, October 7. Work is scheduled to take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning. The far-right lane will be closed, the ramp to I-64 West will remain open.

I-265 West (Gene Snyder Freeway): Ramp from KY 61 North (Preston Highway) to I-265 West closed for repair. Detour signs in the area will direct drivers.

KY 22 (Brownsboro Road): Lane closures and delays possible at mile marker 2.7 (Goose Creek Road) for road widening work. Work is scheduled to be complete by early fall. Drivers should heed signage in the area.

KY 841 (Gene Snyder Freeway): Lane closures at the East End Tunnels for cleaning. Work is scheduled to take place on the northbound tunnel on Monday, October 5. On Tuesday, October 6, crews will clean the southbound tunnel. Lane closures are possible both days between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

KY 1747 (Hurstbourne Parkway): Daily lane closures possible for signal work at the intersection of Bunsen Way (mile marker 11.4).

KY 1747 (Hurstbourne Parkway): Daily lane closures possible for signal work at the intersection of KY 1747 and the off-ramp from I-64 East (mile marker 11.8). Motorists should use caution while traveling through the area.

U.S. 31W (Dixie Highway): Refer to project website for new releases and traffic configuration updates: https://louisvilleky.gov/government/new-dixie-highway

U.S. 150 (East Broadway): Replacement of the bridge over South Fork of Beargrass Creek. The bridge will be closed beginning Monday, June 15. Work is scheduled to be complete by late October. Motorists should follow the signed detour.

All Jefferson County (Various Locations):  Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

BULLITT COUNTY

I-65: Left and right shoulders closed in both directions between mile marker 116 and 112 due to the construction of a new interchange. Northbound lanes will be shifted toward the inside shoulder as ramp construction begins. The speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH. Motorists should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

KY 44 (Mt. Washington Road): Westbound lane closures for paving work between mile marker 10 (near intersection with Pitts Point Road) and mile marker 7 (near intersection with Mt. Eden Road). Work is scheduled between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7.

KY 61 (Preston Highway): Road will be reduced to one lane at mile marker 8 (near Shuffitt Lane) for ditching work.

 

FRANKLIN COUNTY

KY 1689 (Switzer Road): Replacement of the bridge over North Elkhorn Creek (mile marker 3.3). The bridge will be closed for 60 days beginning Wednesday, September 23. Motorists should follow the signed detour.

U.S. 60 (East Main Street): The city of Frankfort will be performing catch basin work between mile marker 8.6 (intersection with East Broadway) and mile marker 9.3 (intersection with Martin Luther King Jr Blvd). Lane closures are possible. 

All Franklin County (Various Locations): Motorists should watch for crews performing striping work on various roadways. Lane closures are possible during the work. Drivers should heed signage while moving through the work zone.

 

HENRY COUNTY

KY 3175 (Bedford Road): Lane closures possible at the bridge over White Sulphur Fork for bridge coating and guardrail work. Drivers should heed signage through the area.

 

OLDHAM COUNTY

SHELBY COUNTY

KY 53 (Mt. Eden Road): Work to widen a portion of the roadway will take place from St. Regis Drive (mile marker 6.4) to U.S. 60 (mile marker 8). Two lanes of traffic will remain open to motorists throughout the duration of the project.

WORK ZONE TIPS

1.    Expect the unexpected.

3.    Don’t tailgate. Keep a safe distance between you and the car ahead of you.

4.    Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the construction workers and equipment.

5.    Pay attention to signs.

6.    Obey road crew flaggers.

7.    Stay alert and minimize distractions.
