Temporary closure of New Circle Road (KY 4) and Newtown Pike (KY 922) in Lexington scheduled for Tuesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 2, 2018) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of a temporary closure of New Circle Road (KY 4) and Newtown Pike (KY 922) in Lexington on Tuesday, July 3. Crews will perform blasting operations as part of the ongoing widening project. Law enforcement officials will assist with traffic control as all lanes of New Circle Road (KY 4) and Newtown Pike (KY 922) will be blocked in all directions for approximately 20 minutes.

Tuesday, July 3 – between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

New Circle Road (KY 4)

  • Inner and Outer Loop closed between Newtown Pike (KY 922 / milepoint 9.318) and Boardwalk (milepoint 10) for approximately 20 minutes between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to allow crews to safely perform blasting operations.

Newtown Pike (KY 922)

  • Inbound and outbound traffic closed between milepoints 1.4 and 1.7 (interchange with New Circle Road/KY 4) for approximately 20 minutes between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to allow crews to safely perform blasting operations.

Motorists should expect delays, travel through the work zone with caution and are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
