KY 89 in Estill County to be closed July 11-21

 

JACKSON, KY – KY 89 (North Main Street/Winchester Road) at the north city limits of Irvine in Estill County will be closed beginning Monday, July 11. The road will be closed at milepoint 12.1, between Estill Springs Elementary School and Geneva Avenue. The road will be closed for approximately 10 days and is tentatively scheduled to reopen on Friday, July 22.

 

No signed or marked detour will be posted. Drivers can use KY 499 (the Irvine bypass) and KY 52 (Richmond Road) as an alternate route. Motorists should plan their trips accordingly.

 

The closure is required for removal and replacement of the bridge over Sweet Lick Creek, and is part of the ongoing project to widen KY 89 on the north side of Irvine.

 

During this 10-day period, construction crews will also be installing several cross drains along the portion of KY 89 that remains open. Drivers who use this section of highway should expect delays while that work is ongoing.
