First public meeting July 7 at Vanceburg
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (June 29, 2015) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers are studying how best to improve travel on state highways between Vanceburg and Morehead, and they need your help.
A public meeting will be held Tuesday, July 7, at Vanceburg to gather information about needed highway improvements from those who know it best - motorists and residents who drive or live along KY 59, KY 344 and KY 377 from the AA Highway (KY 9) in Lewis County to Big Perry Road (KY 799) at Triplett in northern Rowan County.
The meeting, which will be held 5-7 p.m. at the Lewis County High School gym, will be an open house format where the public can drop in at any time to talk with engineers about the project, ask questions and fill out comment forms.
This year, field personnel have been studying traffic flow, taking measurements and photographs, counting vehicles or otherwise documenting transportation issues close to properties in the study area.
The study is being done by engineering firm Qk4, which was selected by the Transportation Cabinet to conduct a $500,000 planning study for practical improvements that reduce travel time and enhance safety between Vanceburg and Morehead, while improving regional connectivity from the AA Highway to Interstate 64.
