Dear Friends and Supporters,
As summer unfolds across the commonwealth, we’re reminded of how the arts help us celebrate and connect with one another. This month, we’re proud to share two important updates that reflect our continued commitment to Kentucky’s artists and communities.
With support from the Kentucky Historical Society, the Kentucky Arts Council has awarded $211,000 in grants to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary through the arts. These America250 KY grants support artists, organizations, and communities in interpreting the events, people, and stories that have shaped our shared history. The funds have been awarded to builders of culture, and every community in Kentucky is a chapter in the great American story we’re writing together.
The awarded projects, ranging from public artworks to community events, will serve as a lasting legacy for the people of Kentucky and elevate the voices and stories that define our national identity. You can learn about some of the programs in this month’s episode of the Kentucky Arts Cast!
We’re also excited to announce that applications are now open for one of our most impactful programs, Kentucky Crafted, the state’s premier initiative for visual and craft artists. The program offers networking, marketing, and exhibition opportunities that enable Kentucky artists to expand their reach and establish sustainable careers. Artists accepted into Kentucky Crafted benefit from participating in our annual Kentucky Crafted Market, our online directory, and access to professional development training and resources.

Professional visual or craft artist living in Kentucky should review the full program guidelines and apply before the Aug. 16 deadline.
Finally, as you plan your summer outings, we invite you to support the arts in simple but powerful ways! Attend a local concert or festival, catch a live performance, or purchase work from your favorite Kentucky artist or craftsperson. Every ticket you buy and every piece of art you take home helps sustain a thriving creative economy in the commonwealth. In fact, Gov. Beshear just announced the latest tourism numbers, and they are record-breaking, with $14.3 billion dollars stimulating our local economy! Your support of arts and culture make that possible.
