The Kentucky Arts Council Creative Industry Summit Series continues!

 The Kentucky Arts Council hosts webinars and online workshops featuring notable Kentucky artists, best practices for arts organizations, artist professional development and more.  In the next month, we have the following events scheduled:

Growing an Inclusive Arts Workforce
The Kentucky Arts Council’s Creative Industry Summit Series continues on March 5. In this free webinar, Employment Specialist Dan Trabue shares ideas and tips to help arts employers grow a more inclusive workforce. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to noon Eastern.   

How to Get Ready for Anything, Easy Steps for Artists & Creatives
Learn easy and inexpensive steps to protect yourself, your work and your materials/equipment from all types of interruptions and emergencies. Mollie Quinlan-Hayes, Fund Development and Program Officer, National Coalition for Arts Preparedness and Emergency Response (NCAPER) will offer a free webinar on March 18 at 2 p.m. Eastern. 

Arts Education and Accessibility
Teaching artist Margo Wunder will offer a free webinar on March 27, 2025, at 5 p.m. Eastern. This session will explore strategies for designing an arts curriculum that is accessible to all students. Participants will learn how to apply principles of universal design, incorporate adaptive tools, foster social-emotional learning and address classroom management challenges to create inclusive and equitable learning experiences.
 

Taxes for Kentucky Artists and Creatives
Join us for an insightful and practical webinar on April 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. Eastern federal income tax basics tailored for creative professionals! Dr. Elaine Grogan Luttrull will break down key tax considerations, from common deductions for artists to how different income types impact your tax obligations. She’ll also cover essential topics like student loan interest deductions, retirement savings strategies, and important tax law updates for this year.

Dear Friends of the Arts, 

We’re excited to remind you that the Kentucky Crafted Market is just around the corner! Join us at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena for an incredible showcase of Kentucky’s finest visual and craft artists, live music, local food, publishers, and engaging art activities for kids. Best of all, admission is free! 

On March 7, the Market is open exclusively for wholesale buyers. Doors will open at 10 a.m. for registration at the entrance. This day is specifically for business owners or employees with purchasing authority. To gain entry, buyers must present proper credentials, including a resale certificate, business/vendor license, and a business card. Regardless of whether they preregistered or are registering onsite, all buyers must check in to receive a badge. It is important to note that buyer badges are strictly for professional purchases and may not be used for personal acquisitions. Additionally, there will be no cash and carry transactions permitted on this wholesale buyer day. 

The Market welcomes the public on Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. While admission is free all weekend, visitors should know that parking at the Kentucky Horse Park is $10 per vehicle. 

The Arts Council will be accepting donations for the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund at the door in response to the recent flooding in Kentucky. 

Individuals and organizations affected by the disaster are encouraged to complete a Rapid Damage Assessment Form to assist in evaluating needs and securing future aid. Forms are available for Forms are available for Cultural Institutions, Arts Organizations, and Individual Artists & Performing Groups. 

Documenting all losses, including property damage, lost tools, vehicles, and income from canceled events, is essential. Even minor damages should be reported, as each submission strengthens the case for assistance.

Your participation in the Kentucky Crafted Market and support for fellow artists are vital in helping the creative community recover.

Individual Artist Fellowship and Emerging Artist Award
Application Deadline March 15, 2025
Grant Period July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026 

The Individual Artist Fellowship is a highly competitive $7,500 award given to working, professional Kentucky artists who have achieved a high level of excellence and creativity in their work and who have demonstrated significant achievement in their field. Fellowships are based upon the quality of the work samples submitted by the artist. Fellowship awards are unrestricted and may be used in any way to enhance the artist's career. 

The Emerging Artist Award is a competitive $1,000 award given to working, professional Kentucky artists who are in the early years of their career (usually the first 10 years of their professional artistic life) and who have achieved a level of excellence and creativity in their work. Emerging Artist Awards are determined by the quality of work samples submitted by the artist. Emerging Artist Awards are unrestricted and may be used in any way to enhance the artist's career. 

Kentucky Touring Grant
Application Deadline March 15, 2025
Grant Period July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026 

The Kentucky Touring Grant is a matching grant that helps make quality public performances available to the people of the commonwealth. This program supports presenters to book performers of dance, music, theatre, and storytelling from the Kentucky Arts Council Performing Artists Directory. 

America250KY: Exploring 250 Years Through the Arts Application Deadline March 15, 2025
Grant Period April 15, 2025 - Oct. 15, 2025 

As the United States prepares to celebrate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, the commonwealth is exploring the people, places, and events that created our shared history over the past 250 years. As a legacy of this semiquincentennial, artists, organizations, and communities are invited to commemorate this anniversary and interpret its themes through the arts.
