House Bill 1 and System Maintenance

House Bill 1

During the 2019 Special Session of the General Assembly, House Bill 1 was passed.

House Bill 1 has two key provisions:

1. Sets the employer contribution rate at 49.47%, retroactive to July 1, 2019 for fiscal year 2020, for KERS quasi-governmental agencies. Read More

2. Establishes a one-time voluntary cessation window for KERS quasi-governmental agencies.

Because the bill had an Emergency clause it took effect immediately upon the Governor's signature on July 24, 2019. We are currently reviewing the final bill and will send subsequent email updates and publish additional information to our website when available.

Self Service will be unavailable during our scheduled system maintenance the first two weekends in August:

  • Friday, August 2 beginning at 6 p.m. ET through 6 a.m. ET on Monday, August 5
  • Friday, August 9 beginning at 6 p.m. ET through 6 a.m. ET on Monday, August 12
