A WONDERFUL TIME OUT

On Wednesday March 11th, Seniors from the Strother's Senior Apartments on DIxie Highway were treated to tickets to see a wonderful production of The Lion King at the Kentucky Center. The seniors were truly ecstatic to be able to see the show. These seniors made a complete evening of a beautiful night.

"The Lion King" is one of the most eagerly awaited stage productions that has ever leaped onto the stage. Visually stunning, technically astounding and with a musical score like nothing you've ever heard. Giraffes struts, birds swoop, and gazelles leap. The entire savannah comes to life and as the music soars, Pride Rock slowly emerges from the mist. All are recommended to see this Tony® Award-winning Broadway sensation that Newsweek calls “a landmark event in entertainment.” The New York Times says, “There is simply nothing else like it.”  Marvel at the breathtaking spectacle of animals brought to life by a cast of more than 40 actors. Wonder at the inspiration of award-winning director Julie Taymor, who created visual images for this show that you’ll remember forever.  Thrill to the pulsating rhythms of the African Pridelands and an unforgettable score including Elton John and Tim Rice’s Oscar®-winning song “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “Circle of Life.”

Councilman David James was happy to assist this group by providing the needed transportation to and from the show.

77th Annual No-Jury Art Show

;iojukvfut

The Woman's Club of Louisville has a long history as an organization which supports the love of art in our community. As early as 1893, a group of members attended the Columbia Exposition and returned with art for an exhibition including Japanese prints and the canvases of Claude Monet and Childe Hassam. To the then culturally deprived community of Louisville, this exhibit was revolutionary and curious. Some of those "strange works" now reside in the Chicago Museum of Art.

March 18th through 25th there will be a No-Jury Art Show at the Women's Club of Louisville located on 1320 South 4th Street.

In 1937, Mrs. Arthur Stork organized the first no-juried exhibit at The Woman's Club for Louisville artists. For more information on the No-Jury Art show please visit http://www.wcl1320.com/no-jury-art-show.html
