Mayor Greg Fischer would like to invite the residents of Louisville to attending the “Be the One” Mentoring Fair. This fair will be held on Saturday, January 24th from 12 – 1:30 p.m. in the Metro Hall Gallery at 527 West Jefferson Street.
Mentoring is an opportunity to become a positive role model for a young person in our community, a chance to help someone make a right turn in life. At this fair, you will have the opportunity to talk one-on-one with some amazing mentoring organizations, hear from long-term mentors and select the mentoring program that works best for you. Our Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods along with Metro United Way have partnered on this project.
We know being a mentor is a big responsibility, but we also know that a positive mentoring relationship can make a huge impact in a child’s life. Whether it’s spending an hour reading to an elementary student or helping a young adult apply for a job, mentoring can make all the difference.
As Martin Luther King said, “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” If you think you are interested in becoming a mentor, we hope that you will take this huge opportunity to improve a young persons life into consideration.
We forward to seeing you on Saturday, January 24th! If you have any questions, please call Anthony Smith (502-574-2029) or Althea Jackson (502-574-1050).
