St. James Stolen Jewelry Recovered

gfh

Thousands of dollars worth of art jewelry stolen from a California artist just before the St. James Court Art Show has been recovered.

Kathleen Caid had dozens of pieces stolen, representing hundreds of hours of work and thousands of dollars in potential profit. Caid will soon be reunited with the artwork she never thought she'd see again.

Heartbroken by the theft, Caid had passed out missing flyers to businesses and artists around town.

On Sunday October 26th, Louisville Metro Police Department tracked down a suspect in a separate burglary, Theodore Jackson. They found him in a vacant home with stolen materials including Caid's work, then the search began for the jewelry's owner.

On Monday October 27th, Louisville Metro Police Department Officer Singleton brought the jewelry to Edenside Gallery owner Nancy Peterson to see if she recognized it.

Peterson immediately recognized the jewelry from the flyer and called Caid. The jewelry is now with Caid's son Cassidy in Louisville who will be mailing it to his mom Friday. Both mother and son want to say a big thank you to Louisville Metro Police Department.

cfuy

Councilman James and Brightside would like to thank everyone who came out to help and support the 7th & Magnolia Clean-up as well as the Limerick Clean-up this past Saturday October 25, 2014.

There were bags of trash, weeds and debris that were collected and disposed of, as well as the graffiti along the walls painted over in hopes to improve the neighborhood.

A special thanks goes out to all volunteers, especially Herb Fink and Steve Peterson,  your work is truly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you at the next Brightside Clean-Up.

Leaf Drop-Off Sites Open Soon

yhio

Leaf Drop Off sites will be open this year starting on November 11th. There will be 3 disposal locations available to the public. Louisville metro residents who are not mulching their autumn leaves into their lawns or using the curbside collection will have the option to dispose of their leaves at the drop off sites Tuesday through Saturday from November 11th through December 6th.

There will be NO service available on Thanksgiving day or the day after Thanksgiving.

Only loose leaves will be accepted, and containers used for transport must be disposed of off-site by the residents. For large amounts please reduce the volume by using a lawn mower or leaf shredder before putting them in a container.

Beginning January 1, 2015, yard waste left out in plastic bags that are not compostable will not be collected. This regulation applies throughout all of Jefferson County.

Drop-off will be available Tuesday – Saturday at the following locations and hours:
