Fair Housing Survey
Your Response Affects Future Funding for Kentucky
Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) anticipates the new proposed U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rule, affirmatively furthering fair housing, will alter KHC's future funding decisions. In order to be in the best position under the new rule, and to maximize funding opportunities, partners are encouraged to fill out the fair housing surveys released by KHC. The fair housing surveys will be used to complete the Analysis of Impediments (AI) at the end of 2014. In turn, the AI will then be used by KHC as a central planning document, integral to all funding decisions.
There are two forms of the survey available, this year: one for housing professionals and one for housing participants. KHC partners are asked to fill out the professional survey, and then to work with their clients so that 20 percent (suggested) of their client base fills out and returns the surveys to KHC. These surveys are available in both English and Spanish, in hard copies, and KHC's Web site, Resources, Fair Housing in Kentucky. Please be aware that those who complete the surveys will find their needs and concerns addressed in the AI, which will directly impact all future funding decisions.

New Study Finds Physical Activity Helps Older Adults Maintain Mobility
A National Institutes of Health (NIH) study has found that following a structured, moderate physical activity program (http://go4life.nia.nih.gov/) can reduce the risk of seniors losing the ability to walk without assistance. Maintaining mobility is one of most important factors in older adults remaining independent as they age. The study found that regular, moderate physical activity reduced by 18 percent the risk of an older person having a major mobility disability.
