HELP CLEAN-UP DISTRICT 24

Councilwoman Madonna Flood has set the date for this year’s District 24 Spring Clean-up.  Volunteers are needed on Saturday, May 17th.

Councilwoman Madonna Flood is putting out the call for volunteers to help make District 24 cleaner and at the same time offer many nonprofit groups a unique way to raise money for their organization during this year’s District 24 Spring Clean-up.

“Each year, volunteers and groups come out to help us pick up trash and clean up our streets and parks.” says Flood. “Spring has finally arrived and it is now time to clean-up all the trash that has accumulated over the winter.”

The 2014 Spring Clean-up gets underway on Saturday, May 17th at 9:00am. Volunteers will start at the parking lot of Southern High School.

For any 501-C3 group in District 24, Flood is offering prizes based on how many volunteers come out and cleanup with your group.

“In return for the help in making our community clean, we like to help those groups raise funds for their organization,” says Flood.

The prizes are awarded as follows:

$750 for first place

$500 for second

$300 for third

Any District 24, 501-C3 group that pre-registers with Councilwoman Flood’s office and brings 20 volunteers will be awarded $200.

All groups wishing to qualify for prizes must pre-register at 574-1124.  All members of the group must sign-in on Clean-up day to be counted toward the total.

“In years past, I have been very proud of the groups and citizens who come out to help us,” says Flood. “We are very fortunate to have dedicated people who love their community.”

Once the clean-up is over, Councilwoman Flood and the event sponsors will treat all volunteers to a cook out at Southern High School.

Joining Flood as partners in the Clean-up are, Louisville Metro, Brightside, the Okolona Fire Department, Meijer, Value Market, and Sam’s.

Councilwoman Flood hosts S.P.O.T. Clinics for District 24 Pet Owners in May.

Licensing, Microchipping and Rabies shots offered at low cost.

Councilwoman Madonna Flood is giving pet owners in District 24 the chance to protect their pets by sponsoring a SPOT Clinic in May.

“These clinics are a convenient way for a pet owner to get the proper shots for their pet and renew their pet’s license,” says Flood. “Don’t forget to take care of your four-legged family member.”

The S.P.O.T Clinic will be held on May 17th at the Highview Fire Station at 7309 Fegenbush Lane. The clinic will be held from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The following services will be provided:

License: $9.50 (altered pets)/ $50.50 (unaltered pets)*

Rabies: $8 (1 year)

Microchips: $25

*Senior citizens receive a discount on license fees

S.P.O.T. stands for Stop Pet Overpopulation Today. The mobile clinics bring these services to locations throughout Metro Louisville.

“Microchipping is an effective way to keep track of a pet in the event he or she is lost,” says Flood. “I hope that many will take advantage of this service and this clinic.”
