I will be volunteering at the Kroger on New Cut Rd from 12 to 4 on Feb 1.
I want to encourage others to volunteer for this wonderful event spearheaded by KY's First Lady to assist families who are experiencing the trauma of Domestic Violence. Our city is fortunate to have the Center for Women and Families as a refuge in time of need. Many occasions women and/or families leave their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Anything we can do to obtain personal items is a great help to them.
Our informal coffee get-togethers will start up again this spring. More details will follow as we get closer, but for now Please put these dates on your calendar and plan to join us to talk about District 13 issues or other concerns you have.
- March 15 - First String Family Sports Grill & Bar, 5921 New Cut Rd.
- April 19 - Ponderosa, 11470 Preston Highway
Our friends in LMPD 7th Division have asked us to help remind people that the Central Govt Center building at 7201 Outer Loop no longer houses Driver License/ID or County Clerk Motor Vehicle offices. Both have moved to separate locations as indicated on the map below.
- IDs are issued at the branch next to ValuMarket and Dollar Store on Outer Loop.
- Vehicle Registration is on Beulah Church Road (old K-Mart shopping center near bowling alley).
We recently learned MetroCall is no longer accepting calls 24/7. As of the end of last yer, MSD is also not answer after-hour calls. You may now call MetroCall (311 or 574-5000) and speak to a live representative M-F, from 7:00A-7P. Issues may be reported online after hours or on weekends at: http://www.louisvilleky.gov/MetroCall/submit_a_concern.htm. All you need to do is set up an account, which will allow you to login in the future and report something and see the history of your reports. There is also a link to download the mobile app to report an issue on your phone.

Congrats to Rubbies for a great review and write-up in the Courier-Journal. Reviewer Marty Rosen praised the food, (great burgers, wings and BBQ, plus homestyle daily specials), the cozy atmosphere, drinks, prices, and staff. Rubbies is located at 6905 Southside Dr. We're proud to have this wonderful small business, and owners Linda, George and Scott Cox call District 13 home. Check out the full CJ review.

New Business Association Represent Dixie Area
This is an exciting time for the business community along Dixie Highway. After some months of research, planning and preparation, the Dixie Area Business Association is officially open for business. Formed to represent members of the Valley Station Area Business Association, Shively Area Business Association and Pleasure Ridge Park Area Business Association, the DABA has come together as one association to represent each community along the Dixie Highway corridor.
The first meeting of DABA will be a luncheon meeting to be held on Wednesday, February 12, at the Southwest Government Center. Lunch will be served at 11:30 but plan to come early and network.
DABA president Jim Caskey says, “I want to hear from you. I am willing to address any issue or concern. I want to hear your ideas and suggestions. With an association this size, we are going to need active, committed members.” You may contact Jim Caskey at 767-8220 or james.caskey@dignitymemorial.com.
