Happy Thanksgiving from District 12

On this Thanksgiving weekend, I would like to express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve as your Councilman. I hope you are able to eat well tomorrow and savor the time shared with friends, family, and loved ones.

On a civic level, it is also a time we can reflect on the ways we are connected that go beyond just roads and traffic signals. Strong neighborhoods require engaged citizens that look out for one another, that are giving of their time and talents to address problems that arise in our community.

In southwest Louisville we are lucky to have some wonderful organizations whose mission is to serve the most vulnerable amongst us. In this bulletin you will learn more about opportunities in the coming days to support these groups. We can show thanks for the blessings we have by doing what we can to share those blessings with those less fortunate.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Sincerely,

Rick Blackwell

Constituent's Vigilance Helps Nab Illegal Dumper

dump

Last week on a drive home from work, an alert citizen witnessed illegal dumping along Distribution Drive and decided to take action. After snapping pictures of the incident, the resident contacted our office with information that we were able to quickly relay to LMPD.

As a result of this incident the perpetrator has been held responsible for his actions and the mess has been cleaned.

Illegal dumping is a problem that affects everyone in our community. Because of the new updates to the Illegal Dumping Ordinance, vehicles involved in these crimes can now by impounded. If you know of any areas that routinely experience illegal dumping, please contact our office so that we may recommend the area for increased patrol.

If you witness an instance of illegal dumping in progress, please note as many details as you can from the incident (including pictures if practical) and contact either Metro 311 or the District 12 office at 574-1112 with the information.

Stay alert and help keep our community clean.
