Citizens who have damaged household items from the record rainfall this weekend can take it to the city’s Waste Reduction Center at 636 Meriwether Avenue.
There will be no charge for citizens of Louisville/Jefferson County. However, residents will have to provide two forms of identification to verify their Jefferson County residency. They will need to present to the attendant a utility bill and a driver’s license.
The flood debris drop-off service will run through Saturday, October 26th. The hours of operation for the free drop off are:
-
Monday -- Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please note that the Waste Reduction Center is normally closed Monday and Tuesday but will be opened for citizen flood debris drop-off only. Commercial/business vehicles will have to pay the normal fees for dumping flood debris or other materials during this period.
If a citizen hires an individual or business to remove the flood debris, the citizen will need to accompany them to the drop-off center or provide the hauler with the same two forms of identification to present at the facility.

Business owners in Southwest Louisville take note. On October 26, Khalil's restaurant is organizing a fun and unique event that, in addition to being a good time, is a wonderful advertisting opportunity for local businesses.
Family Fright Night & Trunk or Treat is a community activity that celebrates the Halloween holiday in a family-friendly enviroment. Vehicles sponsored by businesses and organizations are strategically placed in Khalil's parking lot at the Valley Station Shopping Center (10966 Dixie Highway) for a trick-or-treat line.
The twist to making the event more festive is having the vehicle trunks (or the vehicles themselves) decorated in a Halloween theme. There will be live music, costume contests, bouncy houses, and much more to complete the experience.
There is no fee for businesses to participate. All that's required is your dedication, a decorated vehicle, and some Halloween candy to hand out to the children.
It will be a lot of fun and a prime opportunity for local businesses to gain exposure and goodwill in the market. To register or for more information visit www.khalilsondixie.com.
